Trek to Tikona Near Kamshet
Few treks are ideal in the rains, but this is not the case when it comes to a trek up to Tikona Fort and hill. This part of Maharashtra is near the Lonavala hills in the Maval region and of immense natural beauty. The Tikona Fort stands on pyramidal hill and is of interest ifor its triangular architecture. There is a temple on top with huge entrance doors. The views across the lake surrounding the fort are spectacular. Avid trekkers say this trek is best enjoyed in the monsoon or in winter. The earlier you do the climb up the better, as the sun can be harsh.
The history of the fort is not very clear but the Nizams, Mughals and Shivaji have all marked it as their territory. At a height of 3500 feet above sea level, this is a popular trek for people from Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra.
