Description
  • This overnight trek explores one of the more hidden areas of Coorg right on its western boundary with Kasargod/Kerala. We can collect you from Bangalore and drive you overnight to the starting point of the trek - see the itinerary below. This is one of the easier treks with less elevation than the others and so is easier on the fitness level than most except for the last little section.

The Continuous mountain ranges from Bagamandala of South Coorg including Nishani Motte peak acts as interim border between Kasargood district of Kerala and Coorg of Karnataka. This peak lies in the forest area of Brahmagiri and Bagamandala Wildlife Reserves.

On the trail to Nishani motte we have designed our trek route starting from Bhagamandala Forest ranges we head in to the cultivated paddy fields and then in to the coffee estates and pass in to the wildlife reserves and then finally in to the peak. The climbing is moderate to difficulty as the trek path during the monsoons will be infected with leaches making at more difficult to climb on especially for beginners.

The points where we start is from the bridge of Tala Cauvery and head in to the jungle and start the inclined climbing. The first part of the climb is moderatre and weasy on the feet and legs. The final part is very steep and it is like climbing almost vertically with an angle inclined at a 45 to 50 degrees - tough but doable and not too long. Don't worry, we are there to help you.

This trek reaches to an the altitude is 1200 metres over eay walking ground except the final stretch of about 0.8 km which is steep. From the peak you will enjoy a magnificent view of the surrounding mountain ranges of Coorg and peaks of Kerala and also view the Tala Cauvery and Bhagamandala where the river Cauvery originates.

Nishani Motte trek is one of nature amidst scenic trek and main aspect which makes this trek special is the climatic conditions of Coorg, a hill station with cool climate prevailing throughout except summer listed as one of the hotspots for tourism in India and it was one of the hill stations used as rest place by British during their era due to its climatic conditions.

The other aspect of Coorg is the coffee estates where you can find the coffee seedlings / plantations, this is second largest place for coffee production after saklespur in Karnataka and also Karnataka state is India largest coffee production place.

The place was like a bit of England to the British during their rule and they have left over a legacy which still is major source of national wealth in India. Hence this place is also called the Scotland of India.

Post completion of the trek we go on to relaxation nature walks in one of the coffee estates, on the process of completion of the activity one smell the aromatic coffee production smell and sip the natural taste of coffee in the estate / factories.
